Cinco De mayo
Cinco De mayo, shout O-Lay!...Cinco means the "fifth of May", also know as the Anniversary of the day that Battle of Puebla happend. This holiday is to honor the victory the military in Mexico in 1862, ober the French forces of Napoleon lll. In 1861 Mexico declared moratorium on the repayment of their foreign debts. There were French, English and Spanish troops who invaded the country. In 1862 during the month of April the Spanish and the English had withdrawn form their repayments. But they were able to establish a monarchy under Maimilian of Austria ad to rein the U.S. power with the help of the French. On May 5th 1862 Zapotec and mestizo force defeated the French troops while the were under the command of Ignacio Zaragoza, at the Battle of Puebla which was located southeast of Mexico CIty. One thousand French troop died and the fighting still proceded and the French did not leave for another five years. This win, became the symbol of any Mexican resistance for their foreign superiority. The city was then later renamed Puebla de Zaragoza and there is a museum made to showcase the batte and the once battlefield was turn into a park.
In the Estados Unidos, the "United States" Cinco de Mayo has become largely celebrated amongst Mexican American population. This festival last a week long, including dancing, food and music. Celebrating the day that they won the battle and to remember all those who died fighting in the line of duty.
